Hello Sela Families! So far, students continue to learn the Hebrew language, and are mainly in the midst of testing in Hebrew. Students are also currently in preparation for the Israel festival at Sela. students will be learning a variety of facts about the country of Israel, how one prepares him or herself for a flight to Israel, including coming up with a list of clothing items, preparing for weather in the different areas of Israel, learning how and what to pack in a suitcase, and creating passports. Students learning the songs ארץ ישראל שלי "ריח של שוקולד", and we are having a blast learning new lyrics and tunes!
Students continue to learn vocabulary about the home unit and what to do when they are at home, what is in the house and what the family does when going out to the park. Students learned the story "Zahava and the Three Bears" and received new Vocabulary words from the story. Students also continue to study independent writing, learning letters with different sounds. - Students learn a new song "breakfast" , where they learned what to eat at breakfast - cucumber, green onions, radishes, jam, milk, bread, omelette, egg, oil and more:) with the linked below, you can listen
with your child and listen to them sing along! ארוחת הבוקר
Our students have been continuing to learn the unit based around housing, which includes vocabulary terms for all types of rooms and objects that may typically be found within a home. We are also learning names of food products and the different names for types of cutlery and silverware.
We came up with a fun exercise that helps our students implement new vocabulary terms by participating in an exercise where students will pretend to wash dishes, and as they wash a new dish. they must name the type of dish they are holding (plate, bowl, etc.) as well as any other products they are using along with said dish (soap, sponge/scrub, etc.)
Students continue to practice and improve upon their writing and reading skills, and we have just introduced some new educational games that occur only using Hebrew vocabulary, in order to recognize specific words, letters, and vowels. We are also working on enriching Hebrew vocabulary by listening to and reading Hebrew stories out loud, as well as learning new songs, which the students enjoy immensely. One of the songs we are currently learning is linked below so that you can listen with your child and listen to them sing along! אחותי הקטנה ,
As we continue learning our current unit, students have utilized booklets as a way to better strengthen their written Hebrew skills. It is very exciting that our students are learning the art of the written Hebrew language, and are slowly and steadily beginning to read short stories, and decipher the meanings and plots expressed by such stories.
The focus of this unit is to be able to recall from memory and use, whether in oral communication or written communication, the various rooms that can be found within a typical home. We are also currently learning a song written and sung by Chava Alberstein -
"Woman in the Watermelon; אישה באבטיח". or to "שמח במטבח
We are learning how to verbalizeand communicate what kind of furniture we think belongs to which rooms in a household. We have created scenarios where we would be able to ask, in Hebrew, for a particular type of furniture in a furniture store, and are now able to have mini conversations of this specific nature!
For the past two weeks, students have been immersed in the process of learning Hebrew with lots of success! We have been using puzzles, going through reading materials, and connecting Hebrew words to their pictorial representatives so that they can better learn and recognize objects
with Hebrew vocabulary, and other various activities. Here are some examples of
